The Serious Player Only Player 1.5 Mid “Icarus” is a player-exclusive colorway created for Xaivian Lee, combining the existing Player 1.5 performance platform with a more personal visual identity.
Lee’s partnership with Serious Player Only includes PE footwear and forms part of the brand’s longer-term relationship with the guard. Rather than being presented as an independent signature model, the “Icarus” is better understood as a Xaivian Lee PE built on the Player 1.5 Mid.
The “Icarus” Design
The colorway takes a relatively restrained approach to the Icarus theme.
A predominantly white upper creates a clean base, while pale blue details and iridescent elements introduce subtle shifts in color. The rear structure is particularly distinctive, reflecting shades of silver, blue and violet depending on lighting and viewing angle.
Wing-inspired graphics and linear detailing across the upper provide the clearest connection to the Icarus concept. Instead of using oversized thematic graphics, the design incorporates these elements into the existing structure of the shoe.
The result is a colorway that appears relatively minimal from a distance but reveals more texture and visual detail at closer range.
A Xaivian Lee PE
The connection to Xaivian Lee is what gives the “Icarus” more significance than a conventional Player 1.5 color update.
SPO has been introducing player-specific products around Lee, and the “Icarus” adds another identifiable PE to that collaboration. The design does not radically change the Player 1.5 itself; instead, it uses color, surface treatment and thematic detailing to give the existing model a stronger connection to the player.
For that reason, it is important to distinguish the shoe from a standalone Xaivian Lee signature model. At this stage, the “Icarus” is more accurately described as part of his growing PE lineup with Serious Player Only.
Built on the Player 1.5 Mid Platform
Underneath the visual treatment, the “Icarus” retains the Player 1.5 Mid performance setup.
The shoe uses SPO’s replaceable Explosive 2.0 drop-in midsole, together with an extended EVA base, an Anti-Pinch TPU frame and a 3D carbon-fiber heel counter. These elements are intended to balance cushioning, platform support and rearfoot containment for basketball movement.
The mid-cut construction also contributes to the overall appearance of this PE. Combined with the light upper and more reflective heel structure, it gives the “Icarus” a noticeably different visual presence without requiring major changes to the underlying shoe.
Overall
The Player 1.5 Mid “Icarus” is primarily interesting as a Xaivian Lee PE rather than as a new performance model.
Its white-based palette, wing-inspired detailing and iridescent heel treatment establish a clear Icarus theme while keeping the design relatively controlled. At the same time, the familiar Player 1.5 Mid platform means the shoe remains rooted in SPO’s existing basketball performance system.
More importantly, the “Icarus” provides another look at how Serious Player Only is using PE releases to give Xaivian Lee a more recognizable footwear identity within the brand.
