This reflects the "independent shoemaking" trend. In the basketball shoe industry with high tech barriers, some Chinese sneaker bloggers like Ye Zi are trying to make shoes according to their own ideas. Despite facing skepticism and criticism in the first year, they sold over 50,000 pairs in the second half of 2023. Ye Zi focuses on using new materials and processes, which increases costs. Although it has been relatively smooth so far, with twists and turns, as they head towards 2024, there are both opportunities and hidden dangers in this independent shoemaking journey.
